Washington DC Food Handlers Requirements

Food Handlers Certification

Washington DC requires that at least one Certified Food Handlers be on-site during hours of food service operations. Whenever a food service facility is operating there must be a Certified Food Handlers in immediate control who ensures the public health quality of the food.

Food Handlers in these jurisdictions must pass an approved 16-hour certification course, and must file an application with the local heath department to obtain a Certified Food Handlers photo identification card. A standard passport-type photo and processing fee must be submitted with each application.

Alcohol Certification (Barcode & TIPs)

The Washington D.C. requires that all liquor licensees, or a designated employee, successfully complete an approved alcohol awareness training program every four (4) years.

For more information about either program, call (301) 580-4798 or visit their website at www.foodservicepermits.com
